23 636320 45044687 Pros: * Well fleshed-out, mechanically-satisfying tactics system that's easy to learn and intuit. * "Follow mode" saves you the hassle of issuing your units orders individually when no enemies are around. * Lots of classes. Cons: * Extremely repetitive environments and combat scenarios. It's basically the same few tile-sets and enemy groups reused over and over again. * Very poorly balanced. * Can't turn off the annoying pauses that happen whenever you see an enemy or loot box. While I was having fun with this game initially due to its really good tactics system, I eventually realized that it's very shallow and overall poorly-executed. Even setting aside the cookie-cutter combat encounters that all play out more or less the same way, the game's balance is completely broken, especially in terms of difficulty. It's laughably easy to turn your units into unstoppable killing machines and faceroll through any encounter, no matter how challenging it's supposed to be, to the point that it completely stops being fun. Heck, you can beat most encounters with just one properly-specced level 8 assault class. Depth of extinction might be adequate as a "Baby's First Squad Tactics Game", but for genre veterans I'd recommend giving it a hard pass. 2021-03-14T05:51:55.773494 1 1
