If you look up the game, you will be met with tons of ign and polygon articles calling this game controversial and "decade defining". What they don't say is that the controversy has less to do with the game's narrative as it does with misleading marketing. The original trailer showed off the game as an atmospheric horror. As a result a lot of people were dissapointed to discover that that wasn't it. Which would be fine today, but back in 2013 steam refunds weren't a thing and a 2-4 hour game asking for 20$ was new. Instead of a spooky horror the game turned out to be a interactive narrative featuring teen drama and 90s references. Which appeals to a fairly narrow demographic. So putting that aside, my only gripe with the game is tit's worn out as hell main storyline. If you [spoiler]substite Sam's girlfriend with a guy[/spoiler] it suddenly becomes painfully dull.
